So we've looked at various German Shepherd breeder websites, among them I found a breeder in Illinois who was the owner of Kody's father, Yukon Von Trumpetersprun. We went there and saw Yukon and his 7-month-old pups who both looked so much like Kody (except their ears were still floppy). I think we would've taken one of them home if the breeder hadn't wanted partial ownership for breeding rights. I didn't like how dirty and messed up his place looked anyway.
We came close to going down to see an adult GS with a long coat and already trained in Kentucky, but the day before we were going Dad had gone to Royal Oak Kennels in Fillmore, IN, where we got Kody, and looked at the puppies they had there. He pretty decided to take one of their puppies again, because Yukon had once again bred with Royal Oak's Ische Vom Steigerhof... making the offspring full-blooded siblings to Kody. After a talk we decided we'd go ahead with the puppy.
So last Monday the 14th we went together to see the pups. This place was much cleaner and nicer than the other place. Dad picked the one he had his eye on when he first saw them, the biggest of the litter and the one who seemed the most alert. That one was let out and allowed to run around, and that's the one we brought home. On the way home we had trouble agreeing on a name; Dad wanted to call him Dutch, Ma wanted to call him Taz, and I wanted to call him something patriotic since he was born on July 4th... like Sammy.
Anyway, after asking our friends for name ideas we decided to call him Titan. He's so cute and clumsy, he's done somersaults.
